Our research efforts focus on advancing the understanding and sustainable management of water resources, improving resilience to drought, and supporting data-driven decision-making in agriculture and climate-sensitive sectors. These initiatives integrate monitoring, modeling, and outreach to address regional and national challenges related to water, weather, and climate variability.
Nebraska Water Center
The Nebraska Water Center, established by Congressional mandate as one of 54 Water Resources Research Institutes in 1964, focuses on helping the University of Nebraska become an international leader in water research, teaching, extension and outreach. The Nebraska Water Center is part of the Daugherty Water for Food Global Institute at the University of Nebraska.

National Drought Mitigation Center
The National Drought Mitigation Center’s mission is to reduce the effects of drought on people, the environment and the economy by researching the science of drought monitoring and the practice of drought planning. We collaborate with and learn from decision-makers at all levels – individual ranchers, communities, regions, watersheds, tribes, states, countries – across the US and around the world. We organize and present workshops, writeshops and other capacity-building activities, in close cooperation with local partners.

High Plains Regional Climate Center (HPRCC)
For over 30 years, the High Plains Regional Climate Center (HPRCC) has been providing the public with access to the most up-to-date climate data and information available. We have a vast array of resources here on our website, including near real-time and historical climate data, national and regional climate data maps, agricultural climate products, and regional climate summaries.
