We run our cattle on a fairly rough section of school ground in northern Keith county and are hoping to improve the pasture so as to be able to increase stocking rates in wet years. Over the prior years we have had a considerable build-up of yucca, cheatgrass and a small amount of sage. Are there cost effective chemicals or other methods to return this ground to productive pasture?

I am located in North-Central Kansas a few miles south of Nebraska border. What would be my best choice for a cover crop for grazing in my wheat stubble? The farm ground is on a continous wheat-milo-soybean no-till system. Would having a cover crop and grazing it have negative affects on milo next year compared to just leaving the wheat stubble until spring?
