We have been synchronizing and A.I.ing heifers for a couple of years. My question is, the 5-6 months prior to breeding (after weaning), the heifers are in the feedlot they start cycling around 600 lbs, would it hurt our conception rate to feed MGA prior to breeding to keep them from cycling? Our thought is to prevent hip and leg injuries from all the riding that occurs in between weaning and breeding.

We put bulls in with cows on May 21, 2008. They were to start calving on February 27, 2009. This is March 3, 2009 and only have 5 calves. We preg checked our cows in December, so we know they bred up. They are in good body condition. We have calved around the 1st of March for the last several years, so we haven't changed anything in that respect. We usually always have 30+ calves by know. Do you have any suggestions?

How much shrink should be figured in on storage for WDG and how much shrink should be figured in on taking round bales of hay and grinding it to make ground hay. I have roughly figured 9% for WDG and about 20% on griding hay, is that in the ballpark?
