Does the udder size affect the volume of milk a female will produce? Or is it directly related to genetics/nutrition/health etc? In general I have seen producers say that a cow with a big udder is a good milker but I was taught in college that udder size is not an indicator of milking ability or milk volume?

I have been selecting replacement heifers out of cows that have small teat size and good udders for many years in order to not have a problem with big teats that a calf can't nurse. Also choosing A.I. bulls that produce good udders. But this year a couple of my secound calf angus cows have developed large teats and needed to be milked out so that calf could nurse. What could be causing this problem? Mastitis? A subclinical infection other than mastitis? I don't see how it could be genetic and they had no problems last year.

We have several cows that are not bcs 5 as of parturition. I anticipate that we will struggle to get these cows ready to rebreed by the time we put bulls out. I noticed that the flushing article by Dr. Rasby stated that a corn supplement in cows may encourage those cows to beging cycling. Can this same result come from supplementing alfalfa or cake; and if so, how much?

I was curious about the carrying capacity of 130 acres of winter wheat. It has been relatively cold and the wheat is only 3-4 inches tall. I would like to have it grazed in 40 days?

I just bought some Brangus pairs (second calves) and noticed that one appears to have scours. Is it contagious? I have nine new calves from my current herd and have them isolated from the new ones but need to put all on my oat field.
