I was wondering if you have any information on custom feeding cattle current prices. My dad custom feeds mine for me. I actually do all the work but it's his feed and his buildings. We have hols and colored cattle. I pay by price per pound of gain. I have ran over 1000 head through the last couple of years and have only lost 4 head and I can't make any money. Now that corn prices went up he raised my rates again. What are typical charges?

We are thinking of weaning calves at 3 to 4 months of age. We calve April first for 65 days. My questions is if a cow is lactating heavily with good grass and we wean the calves will it hurt the cow udder for next year? Will we have to give the cow anything or take her off grass to dry her up?

I have a small mixed herd of females that are calving now and I have the bull still running with them. My question is: When will the cow want to stand for the bull. I plan on taking him out before that happens, I put the bull in on May 1st each year.
