Frequently Asked Questions
My cattle are fed corn silage. I add cracked corn and about .75 lbs. of a complete supplement. They are also given free choice of a vi-min mix. Could I just feed soybean meal with the vi-min mix and do away with the complete supplement. It costs almost twice per ton that soybean meal does. I would have to find a vi-min mix with an ionophore.

If you slaughter 7 year old bull, would the meat have a stronger taste because it was an old bull? I have experienced stronger taste in the meat of boars before and did not want to experience that with beef.

I feed a 2 year old Angus bull, weight 1400lb, about 4 lb/hd/da of cottonseeds with avg quality hay free-choice and 25% protein block free-choice. Will the cottonseed amount cause the bull to go sterile? I am hearing "Yes and No". He has been on this for 3 months and I am starting to breed now. If it is OK to feed this, what is a safe upper limit for feeding bulls and cows that are running together?
