Frequently Asked Questions

Q:   How old does a healthy bull need to be before being used to breed cows and how old will the same bull be when he is no longer useful for breeding?

A:   Most bulls are about 15 months of age at their first breeding season. As long as they stay healthy and reproductively sound and can breed females they may be around for some time. You want to avoid father/daughter matings. With that in mind, you may need to replace a bull after 4 to 5 breeding seasons.
