Frequently Asked Questions

Q:   What are your comments about AI Limousine cow with Piedmontese for feedlot performance and carcass quality?

A:   Germ Plasm evaluations performed at the Meat Animal Research Center (MARC) in Clay Center, NE, would suggest that these two breeds are very similar in terms of retail yield and marbling score. Both breeds have traditionally been known for producing very heavy muscled, lean carcasses. If the goal of your breeding program is to enhance both yield grade (muscle and leanness) as well as quality grade (marbling) then crossing your Limousin cow with a British breed such as Angus (which is noted for high marbling) would better accomplish this.
